About Us
InCharacter is a new genre of Reality TV.
Part scripted story and part improvised co-creation, IN-CHARACTER follows “regular people” as they play-pretend in a fully-realized, interactive, fictional narrative.
Playing pretend is playing for real.
InCharacter is not—
A Murder Mystery. An Escape Room. Dungeons & Dragons. The Amazing Race. Survivor. Punk’d.
THINK: The Truman Show, without the deception.
Alongside a supporting ensemble of professional Inter-Actors, willing Participants play protagonists of each episode’s story. Their unique choices, engagement, and character relationships propel the narrative to a final, dramatic choice.
THINK: Do you turn in your friend who’s running from the law?
THINK: How do you confront your cheatin’ lover?
THINK: How will we mend the rift in our family?
Why?
Cloak of Fiction’s interactive stories empowers participants to “walk in someone else’s shoes” – to live a life they would never otherwise – to experience the unbridled, ferocious, expansive feeling of play.
This experience influences their real, “out of character” lives, with a new sense of empathy, understanding, and self-awareness.
It’s about playing pretend with the fluidity of a child and the life experience of an adult.

Why You?
Who should apply to participate in this experience?
YOU! Participants do not need to have any acting experience. In fact, this work isn’t about acting at all. It’s about getting the chance to step into shoes different than the ones you have to put on every day. All you have to do is follow your instincts. You are made for this, everyone is!
When is it?
In-Character will take place July 13-21, 2021.
Will there be an audience?
There are no spectators present during the experience. Rather, each individual story will be captured on film to be viewed by the at-home audience.
What’s the time commitment?
If you are accepted as a participant, you will select a 2 hour time slot. The experience itself lasts around 30 minutes, so you may not be needed for the entire time.
